Which iPad to buy

If you are thinking of buying an iPad, you have come to the right place. Although on this page we talk about cheap tablets, we have thought about developing this small article for users who want to buy Best Apple iPads. Better than information that is not missing.

First, it is very important to consider what features you are looking for in a tablet, which ones you need, which ones will make your life easier and which – no matter how good they sound – you don’t need and/or don’t want or can’t afford.

Obviously, each series of iPads has different characteristics. Here we analyze the best of each to help you decide between buying iPad Mini, buying iPad Pro or buying iPad Air.

The iPad Air, the king of the house

It may have been on the market a year ago, but the iPad Air is still exceptional. It’s incredibly thin (6mm) and feather-light, outperforming other iPads without breaking a sweat. More importantly, in fact, it is fast. Super-fast. Inside is an A14 Bionic processor, which is just a small step down from Apple’s A12Z chip introduced on September 9th.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The iPad Air has a 10.9-inch laminated display with great color reproduction and deep blacks. It has a 12-megapixel rear camera and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Its battery lasts 10 hours and, crucially, it will be able to support all the multitasking features of iOS 14, including Split View.

I must add that the Air comes without shortcomings, it is one of the best tablets on the market right now without any doubt. The speakers are amazingfor those who want to use them to play games or watch videos.

The Air is basically for the user who wants it all: a beautiful big screen, with great power and multi-tasking capabilities that will turn heads. All of that comes at a rather hefty price tag, but if money isn’t an issue, the Air 4 is the best iPad.

Most regular Apple users, in fact, have a quick and clear answer when you ask them which iPad to buy: go for the Air before buying the iPad Pro.

The iPad Mini, the powerful and compact

If your answer to which iPad to buy is ” a powerful one but with a more discreet size “, iPad Mini is exactly what you are looking for. An evolution of the much-criticized iPad Mini 3, the Mini addresses the problems of its predecessor and more: It has the same A12 Bionic processor as the iPhone 11, an 8-megapixel rear camera, faster Wi-Fi (802.11ac) , Touch ID for fingerprint scanning, and an outer aluminum more thin ( 6.1 mm ) and lightweight.

But the differences end here. It has a design that is very reminiscent of the iPad Mini 4, the battery has the same battery life – it lasts 10 hours on – and it has an identical screen resolution (2,048 x 1,536 pixels).

There is new software to consider, though. The updated iPad Mini 4 has support for all the multitasking features of the impending iOS 13  – Slide Over, Picture in Picture, and Split View. As expected, we have already reviewed it in full, you can see an analysis of the iPad Mini here if you want to know more about this model.

In fact, Split View is irresistible: it lets you organize and interact with two applications at the same time. For example, you can copy and paste text from a Wikipedia article adjacent to a Word document, or even watch a video while replying to an email. What is true, and many will think, is that multiple windows on such a small screen compared to other models (7.9 inches) can be difficult to maneuver, especially if you have poor eyesight.

The iPad Mini 4 has qualities that stand out in other areas. The 8-megapixel camera comes with autofocus and aperture, improved from the iPad Mini 3, and its A12 Bionic processor  – which, interestingly, powers the new Apple TV – can handle most graphics-intensive games.

In short, the iPad Mini is a pro at multitasking, it takes great photos, and you play without lag problem with the latest games. If these prospects are what you were don’t hesitate any longer. But if they are not, or if you would prefer them on a larger screen, Apple also offers it in other of its models – although the price will change, of course.

iPad Pro

At the end of last year the most recent model in this range was presented, the iPad Pro. A device that Apple has renewed in every way. A new design has been used, in addition to introducing new specifications, better than those of previous generations. A model of the most complete to take into account.

The company has launched two models, 11 and 12.9 inches in size made using Liquid Retina, which is an improvement on conventional LED panels. A technology that gives great quality. The company already uses it in some of its iPhones, such as the iPhone X. A screen with thin frames has been used, in addition to removing the Home button from it. There is a front camera in it, which allows you to use the facial unlocking that has been seen in the firm’s iPhones, the well-known Face ID.

Also, in this case, Face ID can be used with the iPad both vertically and horizontally. It will work both ways with complete precision. This allows much more comfortable use of it at all times, regardless of the way in which the user holds their device.

€ 1,262.61The design is new, but there are also changes inside. An A12Z Bionic processor manufactured by Apple itself is used. It is a very powerful processor, which provides great performance, as well as allowing multitasking on this iPad Pro. There are several storage combinations, with up to 1 TB. So that users can choose the most convenient option. There are versions with 64, 256, 512 GB and this one with 1 TB.

For cameras, Apple has used True Depth cameras. This allows you to make use of selfies in Portrait Mode in addition to assuming the arrival of the Animojis to the iPad Pro. The rear camera is 12 MP and also allows you to record video in 4K, something that remains with respect to the previous generation.

In general terms, it is a model that represents an important renovation for this range, in terms of design and specifications. A leap in quality, in addition to launching into a more premium segment. This iPad Pro is launched for professionals, so that you can work, carrying out activities such as design without any problem in it, but that it can also be used when consuming content, with a large and quality screen.

Therefore, we can see it as the best iPad model available today. It promises good performance, in addition to having a renewed design that many users may like.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the one that’s hard to miss

The iPad Air has been overtaken by the iPad Pro as the largest Tablet. The new iPad takes this crown easily, at 12.9 inches although there is also a smaller version of 10.5 inches. It’s pretty thick and robust, too, at about 6.9mm thick (6.1mm on the smaller version of the iPad Pro) – a tad thinner, but heavier, than the original iPad.

Justifying its size, Apple has been calling it desktop-grade for superior performance and features, and our impressions confirm them. The iPad Pro has a breathtaking 2,732 x 2,048-pixel display, as well as being higher in resolution than any of the other iPads.  If you opt for the 10.5-inch version, the screen resolution will be 2,225 × 1,668 pixels, thus maintaining the density of 264 pixels per inch.

It is powered by an A12Z processor, a beefed-up version of the A12. It’s well endowed externally, too: The Pro has a set of four speakers, a sensor with FACE ID for face unlock, a 12-megapixel camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and LTE connectivity. He is a monster of multitasking.

Something other iPads can’t have, something that would justify buying the iPad Pro for the amount of money it’s currently priced at (because let’s face it, it’s not a cheap iPad ) is its accessories – that’s where its real value lies. There’s the Smart Keyboard, an iPad case with a built-in QUERTY keyboard, and there’s the much more interesting Apple Pencil. It is Apple’s first attempt at creating a stylus, and the company is already showing its superior efficiency compared to competing pens (for example in pressure sensitivity, as it can differentiate between light and heavier pressure). In addition, its battery is 12 hours.

In short, the Pro could be the ultimate iPad. It certainly exceeds in performance, and extras like dual stereo speakers and Face ID are the icing on the cake. But it is not for everyone. Apart from being the most expensive of all iPads – with a base price of 729 euros – its huge screen is wonderful. And the productivity accessories that really make it shine, the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil, only raise the price, and not a little (with a price of 100 and 160 euros respectively).

There Apple is trying to hook a very particular market, with the Pro: users of companies and corporations who, if not for the Pro, would use a computer equivalent, such as Microsoft’s Surface. That doesn’t mean that other users can’t appreciate it, but unless they’re up for the inconvenience of its size and price, they should consider a more portable option.

Finally, in the following table, you can buy the main features so that you can purchase an iPad according to your budget and the features you need. You will see that in the following comparison all the iPads that we have evaluated apparently have the same characteristics. Do not get confused! As this is a page of ch
